Q Switch

PicoWay® lasers deliver energy in ultra-short pulses that are measured in picoseconds (one trillionth of a second), which is faster than the pulses of Q-switch lasers, which are measured in nanoseconds (one billionth of a second). This means that PicoWay® lasers can deliver energy more precisely and with less thermal damage to the surrounding tissue. PicoWay lasers also have the ability to break up pigment into smaller particles that are easier for the body to remove, resulting in more efficient and complete clearance of pigmented lesions and tattoos.

On the other hand, Q-switch lasers, also known as nanosecond lasers, use longer pulse durations (in the nanosecond range) to deliver energy to the skin. The longer pulse duration creates a photothermal effect that heats up the targeted area and breaks down the pigment or ink.

PicoWay® lasers can be used on a wider range of skin types and tones, including darker skin types, which are more susceptible to complications such as hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation. Pico lasers also have the ability to stimulate collagen production, which can improve the overall texture and tone of the skin and can be beneficial in the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles.

In general, PicoWay® lasers are considered to be more advanced and versatile than Q-switch lasers because they can target a wider range of pigments and can be used for a broader range of cosmetic treatments.
