Treatment Overview

In some cases, laser treatments alone aren’t enough to fully remove tattoo or permanent makeup ink. Factors like pigment color, ink depth, chemical composition, or existing scar tissue can limit how effectively the laser breaks down the ink—especially when it comes to stubborn colors like yellow, which are notoriously resistant to laser removal.

At Reversal, we’re committed to guiding you through every step of your removal journey with safe, effective, and personalized care. That’s why we’re proud to offer an advanced removal solution that can be used on its own, in combination with laser treatments, or alternated between sessions—depending on what your skin needs most.

As part of this treatment, we apply a specialized solution specifically designed to break up the binders in permanent makeup ink—the very compounds that make pigment so resistant to laser removal. This solution also helps to release any scar tissue holding on to ink particles, making the removal process more thorough and effective.

Unlike common options like saline removal, which can result in minimal improvement, long recovery times, and a higher risk of scarring, this technique offers a gentler, more effective approach. It even helps stimulate hair growth in the brow area.

We understand how frustrating it is to deal with lingering yellow tones or to feel stuck in your removal process. That’s why we’re so excited to offer this game-changing option to our clients. During your consultation, we’ll evaluate your specific case and recommend the best treatment plan for optimal results.

What To Expect

Here’s what you can expect during your Permanent Makeup Removal treatment:

Arrival and Preparation: Upon arrival, our technician will cleanse the treatment area and may apply a topical numbing cream to reduce discomfort.

Non Laser Treatment: Using our signature technique, we gently open up the skin and apply a specialized solution on the area developed to specifically break down and remove permanent makeup.

Session Duration: Each session is 30 minutes. Multiple sessions are required for optimal results.

Post-Treatment Care: After treatment, the area may appear red or slightly swollen, much like a mild sunburn. Do not get the skin wet for at least 24-48 hours

Pain Management: Most clients report minimal discomfort, and over-the-counter pain relievers can be used if necessary.

How To Prepare

1–2 Weeks Before Treatment

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning (natural or artificial) on the area to be treated. Sunburned or tanned skin cannot be safely treated.
  • Discontinue retinoids, glycolic acids, and exfoliants on the area at least 7 days before treatment.
  • Stay hydrated and maintain good overall skin health to support healing.
  • Do not pick or irritate the tattooed area.

Avoid These 24–48 Hours Before Treatment

  • Alcohol and caffeine – These can thin the blood and increase sensitivity.
  • Blood-thinning medications or supplements, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, or niacin (unless prescribed—always consult your doctor first).

Additional Notes

  • Ensure the area is clean and free from makeup, lotions, or creams on the day of your appointment.
  • Let your technician know if you have any medical conditions, are pregnant/nursing, or have had previous reactions to pigments or tattoo removal.
  • Do not book treatment over active skin conditions (e.g., eczema, acne, rashes, infections) in the treatment area.

Aftercare

Days 1-3 (Day of treatment = Day 1)

  • Keep the area dry
  • Avoid water, sweat, steam, or moisture on the brows
  • Do not apply makeup, creams, or ointments on the treated area
  • Gently dab any lymph/fluid with a cotton pad within the first 24 hours

Day 4

  • You may gently rinse the brow area, but avoid soaking and excessive rubbing

Avoid for 1 Week

  • Saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms
  • Swimming in pools, lakes, or oceans
  • Direct sun exposure (extend this to least 2 weeks)

No Picking or Scratching

  • Scabbing is normal — it means pigment is being expelled
  • Do NOT pick, scratch, or rub the scabs. Premature removal can cause scarring and uneven pigment lifting
  • The scabbing process takes 5–7 days, depending on your skin
  • Once the scabs fall off, the skin may appear pink or uneven — this is normal and temporary
  • After the Scabs Have Finished Shedding
  • Begin applying a thin layer of healing ointment twice daily for two weeks
  • Apply SPF daily to protect the treated area from sun damage and prevent pigmentation issues

The Benefits

  • Effective on all permanent makeup colours, including yellow and white
  • Removes pigments that laser alone cannot remove
  • Restores natural brow health and growth
  • Gentle treatment with minimal discomfort
  • Fewer sessions needed for desired results
  • Safe for all skin types
  • Promotes faster healing with reduced risk of scarring

How Our Method Differs from Laser Removal

Laser removal is a common method for removing permanent makeup, but it does have limitations, especially when dealing with certain pigments. Colors like yellow and white are often difficult for lasers to break down. In some cases, laser treatment can actually cause yellow pigment to appear more vibrant or intensified. White pigments may oxidize and turn black, making the unwanted ink even more noticeable and harder to remove.

Our solution removal method avoids this issue entirely. It does not rely on targeting specific pigment colors, allowing it to safely and effectively treat all colors at once, without the risk of unwanted pigment darkening or intensification. For the most complete and efficient results, we often combine solution removal with laser treatments. This dual approach enables us to remove a broader range of pigments more thoroughly and quickly than laser alone, offering a safer and more comprehensive solution for clients seeking full removal.

Why our Signature Solution Removal technique differs from Saline Removal

Our removal technique stands apart from traditional saline removal in both effectiveness and gentleness. While saline removal is a common method, it’s known to frequently cause skin irritation and even scarring, especially with repeated treatments. In contrast, our technique is designed to be far more gentle on the skin, significantly reducing the risk of trauma.

The specialized solution we use works by breaking down the binders found in permanent makeup pigments—compounds that typically make the ink resistant to removal. It also softens and breaks up scar tissue, allowing trapped pigment particles to be released more easily. A unique benefit of this method is that it encourages natural hair growth, helping restore both the look and health of your brows—something saline removal cannot offer.
